Guy Malone! Reggae!

"Sing The Weight. Feel The Weight. Fuck the Weight."
-BC, 5/10/2014

Saturday night's Shamrock performance showcased a band that can switch gears from virtuoso power trio to beer-soaked karaoke band at the drop of a hat.  Some examples of the former can be heard below. I wish I could have recorded "Bloodshot and Blue" but I was too busy doing this:

Sewing Up the Modern Scar

"I came here to witness sorcery"
-Evan, 4/12/2014

It recently occurred to me that I am rarely critical of GM shows. I wouldn't dispute the argument that I am a bit of a GM fluffer. That being said, the band's debut at Stella Blues was relatively flawless.  I'm keeping tonight's "Burn" video in my back pocket until years end, but check out some other highlights below.

Those were my best "Burn" lights ever.
-Cruess, 3/29/2014

What the world needs now is another rock band like I need a hole in my head. These guys are definitely an exception to the rule. Links below for some ferocious playing in "Burn", "Baba" and "Everything's Fine".

Ghosts of California

#playthefuckingintro
-BC, 3/22/2014

Saturday night brought GM back to home turf for more of the the family style jams we've grown to know and love. Playing for a packed house of friends and loved ones, the band treated the crowd to some top notch playing in my personal faves "Everything's Fine" and "Althea"(vids below).  The main event included the highly anticipated debut of CAPRICORN, the Allman Brothers tribute consisting of all GM and Almost Ancient members. Video highlights from that set are forthcoming.
Can't say enough how much I appreciate sharing experiences like these with close friends and fam; I hope I'm not alone there. My immense gratitude for helping create memories better than sunshine, better than moonshine, and damn sure better than rain.

Nog Changes

Playing the first of three consecutive Saturday shows this month, last night brought GM to Parkside Lounge in NYC, the self proclaimed "champagne of dive bars". Playing an abbreviated set and using house gear doesn't always make for the smoothest experience, but we're just fine with imperfections around here. I'm off to BRYAC tonight to check out Uncle Sonny and Duck Helmet and next week takes us back home to Waterbury for the Allman Bros. tribute show. See you there.
